The Strongest NASB Exhaustive Concordance

Uses: Strong's Numbering System

Identify the original Greek/Hebrew word

  1. Look up the English translation of the word in the concordance.
  2. Find the verse where it is located. The letter/words in bold are the English translation.
  3. Identify the Strong's # of the original word. 
    • If it is in regular type, it is a Hebrew word.
    • If it is in italics, it is a Greek word.
  4. Look up the Strong's # in the dictionary in the back of the concordance.
    • If it is a Hebrew word, look in the Hebrew Dictionary.
    • If it is a Greek word, look in the Greek Dictionary.
  5. Copy everything from the dictionary: Strong's #, Hebrew/Greek word, transliteration, and English translations.

Create a list of every occurrence of the word in the Bible

  1. Look up each English translation of the word in the front "concordance" section.
  2. List each verse that has the Strong's # beside it.

Greek word (New Testament) example

  1. Look up the English translation of the word in the concordance. 
    • "Lord", starting on page 664
  2. Find the verse where it is located. The letter/words in bold are the English translation.
    • 1 Cor 16:22 If anyone does not love the L on page 687
  3. Identify the Strong's # of the original word.
    • 2962 
    • (Note the numbers used with other verses, such as 1203 in Ac 4:24--that is a different Greek word.)
  4. Look up the Strong's # in the dictionary in the back of the concordance.
    • 2962 is on page 1543, in the Greek Dictionary
  5. Copy everything from the dictionary: Strong's #, Greek word, transliteration, definition, and English translations.
    • 2962kurios, lord, master.
    • lord (10), Lord (625), Lord of lord's (2), Lord's (12), lords (1), master (38), master's (3), masters (8), masters' (1), owner (6), owners (1), sir (11), sirs (1)--the number in parenthesis is the number of occurences of that English translation--adding them together, kurios is used 689 times

Create a list of every occurrence of the word in the Bible (Greek example)

  1. Look up each English translation of the word in the front "concordance" section.
    • "Lords" is on page 688.
    • You would also look up "lord," "Lord," "Lord of lords," "Lord's," "master," "master's," "masters," "masters'," "owner," "owners," "sir," "sirs."
  2. List each verse that has the Strong's # beside it.
    • There are 3 verses with Strong's # 2962: 1 Co 8:5; Rv 17:14, Rv 19:16
    • You would not list Mk 6:21 or 1 Tm 6:15 because those have a different Strong's # beside them.

  1. Look up the English translation of the word in the concordance. 
    • "Lord" on page 664
  2. Find the verse where it is located. The letter/words in bold are the English translation.
    • Ex 4:13 Please L, now send the message
  3. Identify the Strong's # of the original word.
    • 136 (Note the numbers used with other verses, such as 113 and 3068--those are different Hebrew Words.)
  4. Look up the Strong's # in the dictionary in the back of the concordance.
    • 136 is on page 1356 in the Hebrew Dictionary.
  5. Copy everything from the dictionary: Strong's #, Hebrew word, transliteration, definition, and English translations.
    • 136, adonay, Lord
    • Lord (456), lord (1), lords (2)--the number in parenthesis is the number of occurences of that English translation--adding them together, adonay is used 459 times

Create a list of every occurrence of the word in the Bible (Hebrew example)

  1. Look up each English translation of the word in the front "concordance" section.
    • "lords" is on page 688.
    • You would also look up "Lord" and "lord."
  2. List each verse that has the Strong's # beside it.
    • There are 2 verses with Strong's # 136: Gen 19:2, 19:18.
    • You would not list Dt 10:17 or Jos 13:3 because those have a different Strong's # beside them.
